‘The process of letting go is simply remembering you weren’t in charge anyway’ Judith Hanson Lasater

We live in stressful times. Health concerns, workplace demands, money worries, family responsibilities and unrelenting overstimulation can leave us feeling permanently frazzled and exhausted. Yet many of us have been conditioned to view rest as a luxury rather than a necessity.

Restorative Yoga can provide the perfect antidote, helping us to take much better care of ourselves by learning how to rest deeply and completely (which may not come easily at first!).

In this nourishing, meditative practice, we use props to support the physical body in positions of comfort and ease for 5 to 20 minutes at a time to facilitate a deep relaxation response. This opens the door for the brain and the senses to quieten and for us to completely let go. When we relax this deeply, the muscles release, our blood pressure and stress hormone levels drop, our heart rate, breathing and brain waves slow down. The body finds its own homeostasis and health and we remember what it is to simply be.

When practised regularly, Restorative yoga has been demonstrated to help heal the effects of chronic stress and improve general wellbeing.
